Original Post The new BMW 3 Series Touring F31 will have to compete in the next few months against offerings from audi
and Mercedes. The all new 3er Touring runs head-to-head with the audi
A4 Avant and Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate. While the 3er is a brand-new offering the audi
A4 Avant received a facelift this year. The C-Class Estate went through that process in 2011. As always with a new BMW model

I am thinking of getting either a new 3 series in two years possibly in one year (I dont like getting the first or second year of a new car design) or an audi
A4 this year. What do people think of audi
s Crap BMW-wanna-be Of course to some I will look like a failure but then getting a BMW will make one look like a failure among the Aston Martin and Ferrari crowd Seriously what do people here think of the audi
A4 Second question what do people think of audi
I think audi makes great cars and I was considering a S45 before I ended falling in love with the 335is. My main problem with them is the audi drivers who try to get me to race them when Im just enjoying a nice drive or they always seem to tailgate me. This is mostly from A4 drivers trying to prove something I dunno what though. The S45 driver have been cool and Ive even chatted with a couple of them at a local Starbucks and showed off each others rides.
A4 Avant 2004 Quattro Tdi Hi to you all guys hope one or more of you can help me. new to this site so hope im posting in the right section my problem is this my rear wiper stopped working last week so i assumed the motor had packed up 1. removed motor and stripped it ( thought i would try and clean it up and try and repair before spending money on new one ) 2. connected motor back up but no joy 3.
Hi. I have an A4B5 estate year 2000 2.5tdi. I have done a quick search on here but have not seen a post relating to the specific problem. It started just after Christmas when I noticed the rear hatch was showing open on the dash display. I got out and closed it only for it to open again. Then I noticed the mechanism was operating uncommanded continuously. So I shut it again and turned the key to the
Fixed the central locking problems from the key fob. Car seems to be leading me on a wild goose chase. First the tailgate lock went AWOL then a day later the remote controls did not work from either key. So naturally I thought the problems were related. Turns out both key fobs batteries were discharged so replacement batteries fitted re-sycronised the keys and all is well. However the tailgate lock
alright i have a 2002 a4 1.8T and its silver. Any input on how dark i should go wiht tints thanks
I have a silver A6 and a black A4 (2003 3.0 MT6) and both are 35% sides and 15% rear. You can still see inside from the side but it is a lot more private and the darker rear tint reduces the glare from those damn SUVs that like to tailgate with their lights on. 35% means it allows 35% of the light through -- 20% allows only 20% through -- and 15% allows only 15% through.
My windows wont roll down and my central locking button isnt working from the inside. Central locking pump is also runnign when i turn off the ignition.. and it does another couple of quirks intermittently. I got a short circuit on my tailgate lock switch it said but dont know how to check the problem out.. Anyone knows where the electrical windows fuse is Theres alot of controllers in this car she should get the codes pulled with vagcom to make sure its the ECU.

Theres a long story behind it but suffice to say old turbo was producing the dentist drill whine very loud very low boost then one day no boost no whine. Broker I bought the car from originally put in a new turbo (I have no idea of the origin). Now car has boost although people with experience in these cars says its less boost than one would expect. Also still makes a whine although diminished in volume.
The more I read the more it seems 10 psi is actually full OE boost for this year. Basically I want to know how he can recover as much money as possible from the car as he wont be covered (no collision insurance). Should

Hello all Just sold my TT and I purchased a 2001 Avant tiptronic with 72K miles on it. It was advertised as a 1.8T with a replaced engine with 12k miles on it (sludge problem). The engine has a 100k mile warranty and the car has an extended warranty transfered to me with 28k miles left on it. I paid 10500 for it and I think I got a good deal My mystery revolves around the fact that the sticker in the
I would agree. I love the car so I guess the point is moot. I guess someone did not like all of the badging on the tailgate either. I have to admit it looks a lot cleaner. BTW how does one post pics on this forum It says i cant post attachments.
I had a local car stereo place install a JVC amfmcd player. They took out the original cassette unit. The JVC I got is HD so its supposed to show the song and band playing if the station is a HD station. Mine almost never shows the data. I can park it right next to my GMC conversion van with factory stereo that shows the data so I know its not the stations. I live in a large metro area and lots of

2005 A4 B6 1.8 Avant Wagon. When the sun beats down on my rear hatch it will not open. It will open once cooled down. I want to take off the interior panel of the rear hatch to see what is causing the problem but cant figure out how to get it off. Do any of you wizards know how to do this andor know what is causing the problem. Help would be highly appreciated. Thank you and good motoring.
The wiring in the hatch tends to get messed up over time with corrosion. A small leak into the hatch or a leaky washer fluid line for example. Follow this thread to remove your hatch interior trim. I realize this is an old thread but it might help someone else whos stumbled upon it through searching like I have. how do you remove the interior panel from avant tailgate help
Hi Guys Got into a front bumper accident in parking lot. Filed a claim and could have given up the car for 500 to insurance company. I said no. I think my car is well worth more than that. Based on the pictures what problems do you guys see I removed bumper and paneling. Is it worth fixing or should I just sell this car as is How much can I get for it as is 97 A4 1.8 144k AWD no check engine light air bags did not deploy. Will have salvage title. Thanks
lol thanks guys. Hit a tailgate of a Explorer. Looks way better with bumper back on and panel. Thanks Words for the input on whats damaged. You were right about the power steering. Just needed to let air out. To the right side of the radiator theres a smaller looking radiator thing that you can see in the last picture. Thats the heater core right Thanks fellas have a good new years eve.

So you are saying that all driving instructors and professionals are wrong then Ill agree that 3 seconds can sometimes be a little excessive but I always shoulder check when changing lanes and have yet to even come close to having an accident because of it. The times I see near misses are when someone is changing lanes without shoulder checking (like in the video on ECS). One of the most dangerous
Went for my second drive for team USA event today as rain washed out the first one. Was able to drive the 335i 328i and the A4. The 335i was by far the best. An ideal automobile dare I say so. But this thread isnt about the wonderful inline 6 but rather a realization of why BMW is undisputedly the Ultimate driving machine . To make it clear Im not a Bimmer fanboy. I truly respect the engineering that
audis are driven by ccks. Ya know the ones who wear huge sunglasses big wristwatches and tailgate about 5cm from your rear bumper. nuff said. The 3er is a great car no question. I like this much more than the E90-series although the E46 will still be my favourite.

What surprise me the most was not that the 328i won but the manner in which it annihilated the competition. I was disappointed to read a couple of posts over the last few days slamming the 3 for its supposedly unjustified premium cost. If you cant afford it dont buy it. Just because its expensive doesnt mean its not worth it. The base 3 knocked the wind out of a similarly priced and equipped audi

I backed into a parked car last week at a low rate of speed simply trying to park the car. I was trying to get out of the way of another car and hit the gas a bit too hard. Anyway the damage is really minimal just a ding really. Estimates are coming in around 2200-3000 apparently because aluminum is more time consuming to work with. I also think that they see Tesla and immediately think they can charge
and rear bumpers is that its VERY difficult to keep them blemish-free. Odds are wed get the bumper fixed and then itd get dinged up within 6 months anyway. My normal M.O. is to wait a year or two and then clean up all the dings at once vs. one at a time. I agree that going the insurance route would be a mistake even at the 2-3000 level. I once did 2500 in damage to the undercarriage of an 1996 audi
Id say nice job audi. Will be interesting to see US pricing and of course handling. Coming from an audi as my last vehicle Id have very strongly considered this a few months ago when I bought my X1. If the handling and pricing were decent Id perhaps have looked past the engine have gone for the Q3. The look of it is terrific in and out. I hate to say it but I think it is more attractive than the X1.
Hi all Its now been 3 weeks of ownership and Im enjoying the car no end as you can imagine being new and white the car is getting a few washes at the moment. One thing Ive noticed when it comes to drying there seems to be water trapped behind the black plastic covers on the inside of the tailgate
. The covers I am referring to cover the back of the rear lights. First things first is water supposed to
Majortom on 21 March 2014 - 0517 PM said Hi Missile Cant see any cracks would these be behind the black covers The area Im talking about is the other side of the water seal of the tailgate. Just taken a photo to show. Weve just had a bit of rain (clean it this morning too&33) as you should be able to see theres water there without the pressure washer involved. MT Majortom Nothing wrong with your car it is just one of the places water collects regardless of how you wash it. I am a hose user rather than a power-washer and always have drips if you put the tailgate down. Leaving it sitting in the garage with the tailgate up for a couple of hours after washing and drying results in less drips when you close it. This phenomenon of dripping on the upper surface of the bumper when you close the tailgate after washing is common to A4 & A6 Avants as well as Q5. Bit of a pest but Ive just learned to live with it over the years.
Can anyone think of a solution or a device that I can hook onto the rear luggage tie down points and then onto somewhere higher at the rear to prevent my dog escaping until Im ready for him ( 10 month old mental lab ) Ive just picked up the Q5 and did have a rangie the lower section of the split door on the rangie kept him in but know hes out like a shot when I open the tailgate
Im sure Ill train him
Hi all Looking to purchase one of the above. Primarily looking at a thule 9503 to carry 2-3 bikes on. Anyone used one of these or similar on a Q5 I am particularly keen to know if the tailgate
will open when the bike rack is tilted away from the car Thanks
I had the two bike version of this carrier and its pretty good for a cheaper carrier. To open the tailgate you have to tilt it its a bit fiddly though. The other thing is that on the Q5 the hitch wouldnt tighten correctly on the towbar. It was fine on my A4 though. roofbox.co.uk have the three-bike version on sale at the moment. I now have the Atera Strada DL3 (with the 4th bike adapter) its more expensive
I just wanted to share some of my experiences after owning my 6 Series for 4 days... Today I saw some morons spinning their tires when taking off at the red light when standing aside of me people starting to tailgate
me for no reason whatsoever and people trying to pass me when its not safe at all doing so on that moment.... The highlight happend at the end of the evening driving back home after having
BMW driver has more respect to a fellow BMW driver no mather which model they are driving this is how I have experienced BMW ownership. Just on a side note when I still had my Z4 I was driving one day to work and I met a Porsche Carrera 4S Convertible on the highway we started to play with each other to see what both of us could do (when traffic allowed us to do so) at the end some moron with an audi
I was planning to buy a slightly used X3 this weekend and since I just dont do automatics that left me with one possible car at Ralph Schomp BMW in Littleton Colorado. It was an 06 Highland Green X3 (Vin WA32247) with 23K miles on it and was equipped just as I needed. However on the test drive the car bounced around and yawed back and forth over rough pavement. By bounced I mean that the rear end of
Well funny timing. I just purchased yesterday the all-new 09 A4 Avant (wagon) loaded save nav package and am trading my 07 X3 on it. I worked a fair deal the trade given the soft market and my low mileage helped a lot. I went in to see the new audi and it was love at first sight but then I went and drove it...omg...all I got to say is that it is 10x the ride and 2x the handling of the X3. And the interior...man

Has anyone bought one of these Arent they much smaller and good enough to get to a repair station.
Im using a stock Passion spoked front wheeltire & TPMS sensor as a spare. I also keep a jack (from an audi A4) breaker bar and 15mm socket in the tailgate plus a blanket and a chunk of 2 X 4 in case I need to jack in sand. Got a TireRack bag to keep the trunk area clean too. The front wheel can be used at any position on a short term basis. I also have a Nealy repair kit in case I can locate the leak
There has been a lot of reviews posted recently so I thought I would take the time to add my prose to the pile. My M3 is in the shop right now getting Eibach springs and some upgraded brake lines so my rental car is a Kia Rio. It isnt as bad as I thought and around town it is great. The interstate is a different matter and I am hoping to reach 60 going up the on-ramp by the time I finish writing. It
Just turned mine on today...didnt even know this could be done but in Europe it is standard. Here they disable it by removing a spring. It is the button right under your fog lights. Once the conecting spring is installed youve got rear (red) fog lights...or break check lights without breaking for those who dare to tailgate
a BMW Im sure some of you know about this on here but for those that did not

Hello all Ive started looking for a replacement for my Volvo wagon and like the looks of the F31. One issue however is the size of the cargo area. We have a stroller that my wife and kids love but it is huge even when folded. It fits with plenty of room to spare in our V70 but the F31 has a smaller cargo area. What we need is about 30 by 30 (76cm by 76cm) - height is not really a problem. It looks
I looked at those measurements too and I found it hard to infer the actual interior space of the wagon. BMW materials do not supply anything beyond what youve given as a link I cant add anything definitive. I know that the differences between the F31 the audi A4 Avant and the non-for-US M-B C-class Touring (wagon) are negligible. The tailgate aperture is from 38 to 40.5 wide and 26 high. Im not sure
