BMW SERIES 5 E39 E39 - Alternator dead- Need help with ordering correct parts

Hi Few days ago my car (2002-530i 70k miles replaced battery 10 months ago) died in the parking lot. Got a jump from AAA and drove it back home. In those 5 miles all kinds of lights started flashing on the dash board (red battery indicator tractionanti locks brakes etc). Safely made it back home. Went online read many of the posts on the forum. Special thanks to Bluebee CN90 and other contributors

BMW SERIES 5 E60 E61 Battery or Alternator Issue

Ive got a 2008 528XI with 75K miles (and the original battery) on it. Over the last couple of months the clock has been losing time and occasionally has required a reset along with the trip computer. I was prepared to buy a new battery but when I went to pick up an aftermarket Duralast which I then was going to have registered (as recommended on these boards) the guy at Autozone did a test on my battery

it was reading low but not so low that it needs to be replaced. Instead he informed me that the voltage after starting the car showed up as 15V which he claimed is too high - and that this likely means that I will need a new alternator rather than a new battery (which is fine with me because Ive got a CPO warranty which presumably covers the alternator but not the battery). I called the local bmw

My alternator failed Monday (red light dead battery battery checked good removed alternator tested bad at Autozone) so I went looking for a replacement. All I could find that were not store brands were Bosch (mine is a Valeo ) and I remembered reading on the forums that they are not intechangeable. To get the car running I bought the Autozone brand since it was in stock. Big mistake Got the new alternator

Lessons learned Change the bmw battery every 48 months or less. Monitor the condition of the bmw alternator with an on-board tester. Make sure the alternator cooling duct is clean and the air intake cooling duct is not obstructed. The biggest thing that rely on the battery being fit is the alternator which can die as a result of an old battery. Attempting to recharge a dead battery will overwork the

BMW SERIES 5 E39 Alternator Bosch OEM vs. Genuine BMW

Need to buy an alternator. Can either get a re-manufactured genuine bmw 120A Bosch alternator for 500 from Tischer or other maybe slightly cheaper from other less reputable bmw Online Dealers or a brand new Bosch OEM 120A alternator for about 250 from ECSTuning. At half the pricemade by Bosch and brand new the OEM seems like a reasonable choice but looking closely on the pictures of the OEM Bosch alternator

Yes mrblahh the diode drops the voltage sensed by the regulator. BMW SERIES 5 E39 Question about alternator 02 530

Came out yesterday morning and my 02 530i (auto) would not start. Lights flickered and heard loud clicking that seemed to be in concert with the flickering headlights. Clock and the on-board computer functions have reset but I still have radio stations. Also had to unlock the cluster

BMW SERIES 3 E46 Strange battery andor alternator issue

Parked it for a few hours came back started it to let the seats get warm for a few minutes. She came back out to a car that was off lights blinking. Tried to start it again...nothing. Her dad jumped it and it started right up. Took the cables off and it stalled within about a

Turned out the issue was the alternator. After replacing the alternator and charging the battery the voltage went to just over 12V off and 14.3V while running. As promised heres a quick write-up of how it went with my car. There seems to be some variation out there between models and years so hopefully someone finds these helpful. BMW SERIES 3 E46 Battery and Alternator FYI

Well I had to change my alternator and my battery this week. Probably because I let my battery go bad while I was screwing around installing blue tooth and figuring out how to make it work with my DICE unit. Just a couple of thoughts for others who may have the same problems although I didnt really have any. The alternator could seriously not be easier. Just follow the DIY for changing your belts.
