Answers and questions: fiat 500 rear door

Two reasons spring to mind either (i) it was not adjusted right or (ii) by mistake you were touching the micro-switch controlled handle as you closed it and opened it again. Either way if you had the warning to say it was open and chose to drive on I am not surprised that the dealer thinks this one is down to you - bad luck all the same.

Thats really unfortunate will the insurance glass excess not cover most of the damage. Unfortunately I think your only chance of the dealer accepting liability would be if the boot catch was faulty and suddenly opened. Even if it was the case that it was not adjusted correctly as one of the previous posters has suggested they are still going to wriggle out of it by saying that you shouldnt drive off

Very unlucky Ive had three 500s and all of the tailgates (albeit with rear spoilers) would only rattle on the catch if left open. They were far to heavy to lift up by themeselves. That speed bump must have been hit at a fair speed.

FIAT 500 II Sound isolation of the doors in a 500

Dear dear forumusers Im going to sound proff my dear beloved fiat 500 in a few weeks. I have bought loads of Dynamat Extreme and will also cover the car with some filt. I start in the rear section and will follow the great guide on this page. But Ill also do something about the doors. Do any of you have experience in dismanteling the doors Best regards Morten Justesen Calling from Denmark

Hi guys I finally did some sound isolation of my fiat 500 and want to post some pictures if that could help anybody. I did the rear end with help from the fantastic guide on this page and the doors. First I did apply a layer of Dynamat Extreme then a 1cm layer of form and someplaces also some felt. I forget to get a picture of the form and the felt in the rear end but you can see the form on the pictures

FIAT 500 II Rear Lamp Condensation

Hi All Just wondering if any of you have had issues with the rear lamps on 500 misting up after long periods of wet weatherAfter Our car has been out in the ranDamp it takes at least 3 to 4 days for the rear lamps to dry out in the top corners...see pic Attached Thumbnails   __________________ fiat Forum Useful Links Donate to FF    Buy FF Merchandise    Classifieds    FF

The rear lights on both of our 500s have been known to mist but it seems to cause no problems so far The door handles hinges are a known problem and whilst inconvenient if they fail under warranty could be an unwanted expense if they fail after 3 years. To be honest owners should moan more about these niggly out of warranty issues as I dont think that its acceptable to be asked to stump up the cost

FIAT 500 II Rear Tires Cupping

I have a 2012 Abarth purchased in July of 2012. I took it in to fiat for the initial oil change and tire rotation and my husband has done the last 2 oil changes himself because the nearest dealership is over an hour away. We have been busy so we hadnt rotated the tires in the last approx 12000 miles which I know is BAD. Regardless when I took it in (24500 miles on odometer) to Big O Tires they wouldnt

Hi guys.....not sure I agree with the condensation in the rear light... I have had many cars over the years and never had this issue... We have not had anything damp in the boot or the car so the lights are a mystery. My wife had the door issue... She has said that the door open light stayed on the dash and it took three attemps to get the door shut... This could be just getting use to closing the door I suppose. thanks Dave Bailey

FIAT 500 II Passenger door trim - rattle

Does anyone have any experience with rattles in the door trimcards Ive had one in the passenger door for a while that goes away when the interior is very warm. So Im confident its the plastic trim. I removed it 2 months ago to take a look and all the plastic pins holding it in looked ok. Is there anything else i should be looking for or any tips to stop the rattle Sorry is there is another thread on this already but i couldnt find one.

I have this same rattle on my 11 plate 500c its been annoying me mine is proving difficult to even begin to locate it sounds a little like a wire or metal piece tapping which is louder when the car is cold and either disappears or still taps or creaks but quiter as the car warms up. With the dealer being 30 mins drive on the motorway you just know itll be usual case of itll have gone cos the car is

FIAT 500 II Rear Side Lights

Does the 500 have any rear side lights Ive worked out the Day Lights at the front but theres nothing on the back. Ive always liked having some lights on when youre driving at dawndusk or in the rain where it isnt dark enough to have the headlights on (without blinding people and looking a bit daft) so side lights were perfect. I have my Day Lights on all the time but Im conscious that theres no lights

My 500 rear heated window and heated wing mirrors are not working. I checked and found that fuse F20 had blown. I replaced it with another 30A fuse but it keeps blowing. Im looking for some likely causes as I think this one will be hard to trace

look pretty smart. Fitting tip - the profile of the strips at the join where the door shuts doesnt quite match - the way theyve been cut means you get a nice curved edge on the rear moulding and sharp corners on the front - easily corrected with a steady hand and a pair of sharp scissors - just round the corners off slightly. FIAT 500 II Rusty rear hubs and calipers.

Was looking under the 500 to see if I could find anything broken or loose that is making my interior shudder so much... nothing obvious However I was shocked to see the rear calipers really badly corroding and the backplate assembly they and the axle bolt to was really rusting looked like part of the Titanic When I think our 125000 mile and 13 year old Passat looked nearly like new underneath it does

FIAT 500 II Electrochromatic Dipping Rearview Mirror

Im going to test drive a 500 tomorrow morning. Im pretty sold on getting one now and ive specced up one that I want. The only things I need to clear up are whether the rearview mirror is worth getting and what the car drives like. Does it make the mirror any bigger physically and how useful has it been for those that have it Thanks in advance

Cant comment directly on the one on the 500 but I have one in my Audi A3 along with similar door mirrors. You dont realise how effective they are until you turn them off. It gives at night everything in the rear mirror a light green tinge you can still see clearly whats behind you but without it ever dazzling you no matter how brightly the lights behind are. I dont think these mirrors are any different in size to the standard one. Vic

FIAT 500 II Room in the rear....

Im wondering if some people must have really large children this is based on the number of on line reviews I have read on the 500 which include the line the rear seats are only really suitable for children or effectively its only really a 2 seater Which TBH I find a nonsense. I specifically rode in the back on our test drive and was amazed at how much room there is (Im 5 10 and 17 stone) in the back

uncomfortable in the back when cleaning the windows etc though and Im 60. Ive been in bigger cars with less head and leg room. I did it on the test drive because I was curious as to how much room there was in the back given we occasionally carry rear seat passengers (adults) if it had been unbearably uncomfortable in there (as implied by some of the reviews you read) I wouldnt have bought a 500.

FIAT 500 II 500c Rear shunt

Hi all Absolutely gutted today as I was stationary indicating to turn whilst waiting for oncoming traffic to pass when a van smashed in to the back of me with my 10 month old son in the back. Fortunately everyone was alright and we were turning into an ambulance station to see my paramedic wife who was working so she checked us over Amazingly for the impact the rear bumper has only minor scratches

FIAT 500 II Door handle trouble

I serviced a mates 1.4 Sport at the weekend. When he jumped in it to bring it round to me his door handle snapped at the hinge on the front end. You can see that its seized on the hinge pin and just flexed the casting until it broke. Hes been living with it all week and I picked up a used handle for him off eBay. When it arrived I found that the hinge is attached by a screw to the handle. Does anyone

Not really a guide but pop the round surround off the inside door handle and slide it off the handle. Pop the panel off near the door handle. Undo all the screws you see. From memory it was 4 of them. Then get something nylon and non damaging under the lower rear edge of the door and start working the pop clip things loose around the door. Lift the panel up and itll come loose. Inside theres a couple

FIAT 500 II Rear Window shattered

For no apparent reason as I opened the boot this morning the rear window crumbled into pieces...Ive had the car from new for 6 months and it has less than 7000 miles on the clock. From reading the posts other new 500 owners have had similar experiences. Im wondering just how common this is and whether there was any comeback from the dealer where you bought the car

Hello I recently purchased a fiat 500 Pop (my first car)... It was a quick sale as i bought a brand new car from the show room. Is there any way to add this feature on without changing the whole seat etc I am new to this as you can see thank you.

FIAT 500 II Strange goings on with my 500s rear end.....

Hi people was wanting to ask if any of you have had the same problem Ive owned this car since birth 2008 and Im well out of my warranty. When i jumped in it last week and turned the ignition it started fine as per usual but my warning light indicated rear number plate light was out. So i replaced it and

FIAT 500 II Ignition Module or door Handle

On my 2nd service I mentioned that the Drivers exterior door handle didnt return to closed position after opening (week return spring I thought). Got car back with no improvement or mention of it. Last week I get a call from the dealer your part (a new door handle) has arrived when is it convient for you

FIAT 500 II Noisy rattle coming from the rear

Just a quick post to say that I went to a Fete today and had to park on the grass and I kept on hearing a knocking noise when I went over bumps. When I got back onto the tarmac I still found that I had a knocking noise when I went over holes in the road. I have finally found out after alot of looking around to find that the very small parcel shelf in the back seems to jump a little when going over

FIAT 500 II Door Sound Insulation & Interscope Front Speakers

Evening all For those interested Im looking at the doors on the 500 at the moment for the purposes of sound insulation. With the cards removed the increase in road noise is very apparent how much Ill be able to improve this I dont know. With the door card removed (c.5 mins) the Interscope front drivers were revealed... quite nice looking polypropelene coned drives. Sorry about poor image quality on those.

Ive found the doors to be OK its the rear panels that are causing problems in mine. They rattle like mad as soon as you turn the volume up even a little bit

FIAT 500 II Drivers side door handle HANGING OFF (

FIAT 500 II Chrome door mirrors anyone having them

Hi all Linda was just looking at any little extras and she saw the chrome door mirrors which she thinks would look great with a 1.2 lounge cha cha azure and i do agree with her but then i do like mirrors body coloured as well what are your thoughts we wouldnt add much to standard spec she likes the blue checked cloth trim with ivory ambience which I havent seen in the flesh but looks great on the fiat

Im getting 15 multispokes although I wanted the 16 multispokes... my build status suddenly changed from heavy variability to fixed which meant I couldnt add them. Both my dealer and myself were suprised at the sudden status change I was meant to have at least another week to decide on extra options but it seems fiat had suddenly gone uber efficent and sealed my order so I couldnt add anything else.
