Two reasons spring to mind either (i) it was not adjusted right or (ii) by mistake you were touching the micro-switch controlled handle as you closed it and opened it again. Either way if you had the warning to say it was open and chose to drive on I am not surprised that the dealer thinks this one is down to you - bad luck all the same.
Thats really unfortunate will the insurance glass excess not cover most of the damage. Unfortunately I think your only chance of the dealer accepting liability would be if the boot catch was faulty and suddenly opened. Even if it was the case that it was not adjusted correctly as one of the previous posters has suggested they are still going to wriggle out of it by saying that you shouldnt drive off
Very unlucky Ive had three 500s and all of the tailgates (albeit with rear spoilers) would only rattle on the catch if left open. They were far to heavy to lift up by themeselves. That speed bump must have been hit at a fair speed.
Hi guys I finally did some sound isolation of my fiat 500 and want to post some pictures if that could help anybody. I did the rear end with help from the fantastic guide on this page and the doors. First I did apply a layer of Dynamat Extreme then a 1cm layer of form and someplaces also some felt. I forget to get a picture of the form and the felt in the rear end but you can see the form on the pictures
all common issues door handle there is an excellent repair guide in the 500 guides section rear washer could be this httpwww.fiatforum.com500314481-...mlpost3146082 what sensor on The boot the opener
The rear lights on both of our 500s have been known to mist but it seems to cause no problems so far The door handles hinges are a known problem and whilst inconvenient if they fail under warranty could be an unwanted expense if they fail after 3 years. To be honest owners should moan more about these niggly out of warranty issues as I dont think that its acceptable to be asked to stump up the cost

Hi guys.....not sure I agree with the condensation in the rear light... I have had many cars over the years and never had this issue... We have not had anything damp in the boot or the car so the lights are a mystery. My wife had the door issue... She has said that the door open light stayed on the dash and it took three attemps to get the door shut... This could be just getting use to closing the door I suppose. thanks Dave Bailey

I have this same rattle on my 11 plate 500c its been annoying me mine is proving difficult to even begin to locate it sounds a little like a wire or metal piece tapping which is louder when the car is cold and either disappears or still taps or creaks but quiter as the car warms up. With the dealer being 30 mins drive on the motorway you just know itll be usual case of itll have gone cos the car is

look pretty smart. Fitting tip - the profile of the strips at the join where the door shuts doesnt quite match - the way theyve been cut means you get a nice curved edge on the rear moulding and sharp corners on the front - easily corrected with a steady hand and a pair of sharp scissors - just round the corners off slightly. Cant comment directly on the one on the 500 but I have one in my Audi A3 along with similar door mirrors. You dont realise how effective they are until you turn them off. It gives at night everything in the rear mirror a light green tinge you can still see clearly whats behind you but without it ever dazzling you no matter how brightly the lights behind are. I dont think these mirrors are any different in size to the standard one. Vic

uncomfortable in the back when cleaning the windows etc though and Im 60. Ive been in bigger cars with less head and leg room. I did it on the test drive because I was curious as to how much room there was in the back given we occasionally carry rear seat passengers (adults) if it had been unbearably uncomfortable in there (as implied by some of the reviews you read) I wouldnt have bought a 500.
Hi My first post to the forum Glad to read that you and the little one are ok Should definitely claim for a new car seat. Dont know whether this has been posted before and sorry if its a repeat I saw a leaflet in my dealership last week that I thought looked interesting and I dont know if anyone else has seen this fiat Accident Aftercare (can see details of it on the fiat Website under Ownership section)

Not really a guide but pop the round surround off the inside door handle and slide it off the handle. Pop the panel off near the door handle. Undo all the screws you see. From memory it was 4 of them. Then get something nylon and non damaging under the lower rear edge of the door and start working the pop clip things loose around the door. Lift the panel up and itll come loose. Inside theres a couple

Ive found the doors to be OK its the rear panels that are causing problems in mine. They rattle like mad as soon as you turn the volume up even a little bit

Im getting 15 multispokes although I wanted the 16 multispokes... my build status suddenly changed from heavy variability to fixed which meant I couldnt add them. Both my dealer and myself were suprised at the sudden status change I was meant to have at least another week to decide on extra options but it seems fiat had suddenly gone uber efficent and sealed my order so I couldnt add anything else.
