Originally Posted by YouKnowWho Please excuse my ignorance - why is having a new rear suspension such as a great thing Whats wrong with the rear suspension as it is The current rear suspension is too stiffly sprung and is underdamped so when you go over bumps the rear end just jiggles about basically. Ive had one occasion where I would feel that I wasnt driving all that enthusiastically and a bump in the road made the rear end of my 500 kick out a line a little bit.

FIAT 500 II 500 Adopts KA rear suspension set up

According to Autocar The fiat 500 now has a rear anti-roll bar that is 30 per cent stiffer than the original unit after the Italian manufacturer adopted the settings developed for the Ford Ka. The Ford Ka went on sale after the fiat 500 using the same 500Panda platform with a Ford-designed body and Ford-tuned mechanicals. fiat initially used the Ford developed set-up on its Abarth badged derivatives

ARB has been on 500s since January. Did not have a rear one initially so the 30% figure is suspect.

FIAT 500 II Rear Suspension Noise

Hi to all Ive got a 08 fiat 500 1.4L Sport that has developed a knocking noise in the rear end. I suspect the dampers could be the cause. Has anyone out there had or has a similar problem It is at its worse when on a bit of a bumpy road at lower speed. Its driving me crazy. Hoping someone can shed some light on what can be the cause. Thinking of taking in to the dealer my warranty expires in October this year.

Hey 306maxi have you had much experience in lowering the 500. Im looking at doing it but am unsure if I should do a spring only change and which brand of spring to use that will improve the ride.

If you mean ride comfort as opposed to handling then shock absorber choice would be more relevant. The best bet would be a combined damperspring set up which would give you the

FIAT 500 II Why does Abarth SS suspension raise the ride height

Ok as some of you already know I just fitted a Koni FSD red Brembo Abarth SS suspension to my 500 TA. There is a problem. The rears are fine and show about a 25mm - 30mm drop from stock but the fronts have caused a rise in ride height over the stock suspension by 5-10mm. Before (stock) After (SS kit) While I was searching info on this I also came across Ryan McCullys post which reported the same thing

FIAT 500 II 500 byDIESEL 1.4 Suspension

Just ordered a 1.4 byDIESEL in Black yellow calipers to replace the 1.2 Yellow Sport we bought in 2008. It has done nearly 29000 miles and as we live in Holmfirth all the gear changing is getting a bit much. Does anyone know if the car will have the latest Ford KA suspension The car will be a new build and hopefully will arrive before the new VAT rate. Information of any other changes which may be in place by then would be welcome. Barry PS. Sorry if this post gets repeated

i believe fiat added a rear anti roll bar to straighten out the 500s handling and ride for the 2010 model year- this would make it similar in that respect to the KA which had one from launch.. however the KA had significant changes made to springdamper rates and suspension settings to provide more of a ford feel and it does feel very different to the 500 (ive owned both)... i dont believe fiat has
