Can only be done on fiat Examiner mate I believe. Unless you have access to a few grands worth of Snap-On diagnostic kit with the relevant software.

ECU wont know oil has been changed though especially important on diesels.
Can it be reset by disconnecting the battery the reason I ask is about 3 months ago the battery was disconnected for ages when I was fitting an air horn and now my service indicator reckons it wont need one for about 12.5k miles when in reality its less than 2k

they cannot turn the service light off... Aparently they have tried 2 different plug in systems but to no avail... It currently flashes saying service coupon expired and the spanner shows Has anyone got any suggestions Cheers it obviously not a relatively decent garage. if they quoted to service it and reset service indicator and theyve not fulfilled this then tell them they better take it to fiat
How many miles They said a similar thing to me however I was a bit dubious thinking they would just try and palm me off a bit. Their website is here and its a fairly big and busy garage - hiqonline .co. uk I might insist that the quote was to reset the light as you say and that they need to sort it out at their expense they managed to snap part of the socket covering (down and right of the steering
So does your trip computer not remind you any more ...I think I need to insist that they get it reset at their cost...
Im sure I read a thread in which someone finally managed to work out a procedure to reset the service indicator without tools. It was a couple of months ago and quite complicated.
Sorry to resurrect a 30 month old thread but has any procedure come to light for resetting the service indicator on the punto HGT without specialist tools Ive just noticed that the reset was forgotten on yesterdays service and if I can avoid having to drive back to the garage that would be good. Cheers Mick
Or it can be reset with new Snap-on diagnostic equipment so you dont have to take it back to the dealers a cheap little back street garage will be able to do it with that right equipment or jus leave it like me doesnt reset the miles to service jus turns the light off.

there must be some kind of way to do it without plugging into the car. with vauxhalls all you do is hold the brake pedal down and go through a secret routine with the odo reset.......

Nope.... Post 4 from T above.... ur blackmailed into it now... if you fall for it. But there is NO way. Keep your service receipts I say all in a nice neat folder re-setting the service light
lol tell me about it but sometimes it has to be done lol it would do my head in the sevice light coming on all time lol. Our diagnostic system can only do the Stilos and Panda 100bhp at the mo but we upgrading the K wire lead and we shall be able to do puntos at a smaller fee lol
You dont have to go to a main fiat dealer an independant garage can do it assuming they have got the right kit. My local independant reset mine after they had done an oil change. bluepunto2 thanked for this post
The other thing youll need to do is reset the service light. You cant do that through the dashboard so youll either need to buy a fiat service light reset tool a more advanced diagnostic tool like fiatECUScan or take the car to someone who has the tools to get it reset.

deal...forget your free mats etctheyre worth pennies. This would leave you only to pay for second service as by third service car is out of warranty so get it done cheaper elsewhere etc. Now heres a point...you dont change the oil filter on certain carsmodels at its service interval due to oil degredation sensor(s) which tell you when to do it (all this is part of emission laws so its not just fiat

Garage near me resets all our 06 or newer BMW service lights so im sure they could do a punto with its much simpler computer than a BMW.

Not many diag machines can reset the service light you may need to go to fiat for that. Hard to price the service without knowing which engine you have

i had a similar sound when trying to start the car. The needles went mad the ecu light would come on but then go off. but the car still wouldnt start. every time i turned it over i just got that crackling until the battery died. It was a damaged earth cable. I think the crackling noise was the spark plugs sparking but with the ecu having a bad earth i dont think it was working properly and telling the car to inject fuel. Checked all the earthing points in the engine bay (7 if i can remember) one of the cables was damaged replaced the cable services the other earthing points by sanding down the metal and giving it a good contact and it never happened again EDIT heres the earthing points may be worth a look. httpwww.fiatforum.comgrande-punt...ng-points.html SubSon1C thanked for this post
I bought a 2004 Panda 1.2 8v Dynamique a few months ago that has a full main dealer service history. When test driving it I thought I detected a vague misfire but could not be sure. As the car was otherwise in top order and with the reassuring service history. I decided to go ahead. Two weeks down the line I got the engine light flashing for about 30 seconds. I also noticed that my fuel consumption
They are just trying to rip you off. The service light on an mjet comes on after the car has covered 18000 period it just hasnt been reset. Weight until a year has passed from your last service and get it done again but make sure they reset the light. Helloo Bean thanked for this post
the service intervals are at 18k... so 3rd year or 54k service Check tyre condition Check lighting operation (all lights bulbs) Check operation of windscreen wash and refill Check positioning and wear of wipers Check front disc and pads for wear Check rear disc and pads for wear where applicable Visually inspect condition or bodywork underbody protection rigid and flexible pipes (exhaust fuel system
Dont worry about the service light because they will reset it at your garage and wont affect in any way your car if you do the service earlier.IMHO have your car serviced now it will only do good.
Well got the most powerful battery I could that will fit the battery box from Halfords (the only place around here that was open) and it started first time no need for radio or ECU code. All sort of lights flash when its turned on and the airbag light stays on but Ill go and see my favourite fiat specialist as soon as I can get them to cancel it and give me a price for the 72k service and cambelt change.
service not due until 4 year72000 miles...seems someone didnt reset (missed a service) the service light in the past.
