FIAT PUNTO I 176C 176L mk1 punto break light switch

Hi Appears both brake lights have gone. Kindly pointed by the guy who nearly went into the back of me. All rear lights work so this rules out a fuse. I messed about with thr brake light switch but no luck. Ive read to touch the wires together but not sure how as i cant get them out of thr small black connecting box. Could it be the bulbs or is it unlikely that both go at the same time Any help would be great

You can usually tell by looking at a Bulb IF theyve popped If youve got a Multi-Meter Put it continuity Setting (ie 1 is broken Circuit - 0.01 is an open Circuit) And See if the Bulbs give you a Full Circuit - also test the Brake light switch on the Foot Pedal as well Ziggy

FIAT PUNTO Brake Light Switch Replacement

I have a fiat punto 55 1.1S can you tell me a step by step instruction on how to change the brake light switch Example shown post 7 Stilo Thanks

is the switch actualy broken its possible to reset the switch simply pull out the plunger all the wayjob done

i dont disconnect the ciggie lighter i pull the console over to the drivers side and leave it hanging thereits tight but attainable you will need a tool like an old screwdriver with the last 14 inch bent over 90% to pull the heater plug back onto its clip or you tend to either be there all day or have to call an ambulance as you ruin your sport interior with red stuff make sure replacement switch is smooth before refitting or they only last a week oldhammer liked this post

FIAT PUNTO GRANDE PUNTO Lights switched on mysteriously

Hi Guys Im a newbie on the site. I have a Grande punto 2007 (1.2 Active). Ive been on holiday for a couple of days. About a week after leaving for holiday the neighbour phones to inform me that the puntos lights are switched on. Im very sure no one has tampered with the car. Quite a strange occurrence seeing that the vehicle has been left unattended for a couple of days. Anyone have any theories on

remove the battery from the car and charge it to be safe..... then whilst the battery is off remove the engine bay fuse box lid and check its fully dry.. once you know the top section is dry unclip it from its rubber mounts turn it upside down and remove and check the 3 multi plugs are dry and water free is the arch liner flap (used to change the bulbs broken or open in the left hand side arch near the fuse box secure

FIAT PUNTO Head lights stopped working

Hi I own fiat punto 1.9 JTD (year 2000) Few days ago both head lights stopped working at the same time. - I checked light fuses under the steering wheel. Theyre fine. - I checked the bulbs. Theyre also fine. - I checked the voltage on the fuses. Its 12 V when light switch is ON. So this must mean that light switch and relay are also good. - But when I checked the voltage on the bulbs it was allways

FIAT PUNTO Rear Brake Lights

Can anybody help My rear brake lights are not working. The bulbs are ok and the fuse is ok. Could it be the switch on the brake pedal I dont know. Can anybody help

Unplug the connector and short the two contacts together then the lights should work. font colornavypunto 55SXfont idnavy

FIAT PUNTO Head lights wont work

Subject Head lights dont work Hi All My 00 fiat punto(sporting) has just had a problem with both head lights going off at the same time. Would this be a fuse problem if so where can I check this. I know where both fuse boxes are but I need to know the exact location of this fuse (i have lost my manual) so that I can check it. The full beams and the side lights are OK. it it just the main beams. Can anyone advise. If I bring it to a garage they will charge me big time

Its a well known fault on early mk2 puntos yes could very well be a relay when you turn the lights on you are giving power to the relay this in turn flips the power on to the bulbs if the relay is broken then lights wont work ive heard about a relay for main lights under the steering wheel Its the bottom-right one and check bulbs and also the voltage on the fuses when lights are switched on should

FIAT PUNTO I 176C 176L oil pressure light have I possibly found the problem

My oil pressure light has recently come on and stays on permanently on my 2000 w plate 1.2 sporting punto. FIAT PUNTO Radio and Interior light not working

Hello all - I was getting sick of stupidly leaving my interior light on and flattening my battery - So i decided to disconnect the light. I then realised that this also disconnected my radio so I reconnected everything. Whilst doing this a fuse seemed to blow. After referring to this website I found the offending fuse which had blown and replaced it - However when the interior light is plugged in the

ive got the solution to this conumdrum having solved it on a punto yesterday it wasnt until i looked in the owners manual that the radio fuse does indeed control the interior light s too this car came in with non working interior light no boot light fitted but working non factory radio but having removed it and fault traced all the wiring there were no issues it was a faulty rear tailgate switch shorting

FIAT PUNTO Hazard Warning Switch

I seem to have a faulty Hazard Warning switch on my punto Mk2 1.2. Once switched on they are very difficult to stop without multiple presses of the red button. Even if I hit the dashboard they will sometimes start up themselves. Not sure if its jamming on the bodywork or actually broken the button itself seems to have only a few millimetres of travel. Q- how can I remove just the red plastic button

FIAT PUNTO II 188 188AX 05 punto both airbag and abs warning lights are on

hi iv got a 05 punto active sport .Both airbag lights(passenger airbag disabled)and the red one are on constatly.the abs light was going on and off occaisionaly but is on all the time nowdoes anybody know what this could be or if the two are connected many thanx

you have a problem unfortunately that needs investigating they are not related the abs might be anything from a broken relucter ring to faulty abs module the airbag light is usually down to dodgy wiring on the lead to the switch by the passenger door it needs plugging in to the eobd socket in the fuse box and have read the stored codes and act on it i usually find its due to a bad battery causes airbag

FIAT PUNTO Identifying 60S dashboard warning light bulbs

The temperature warning light does not work on my sons 1998 punto 60S and I am trying to find out what sort of replacement I need. The owners handbook does not list the type of bulb neither does the Haynes manual. It is a small push in type that sits in a square plastic casing that twists out of the back of the instrument console. Haynes helpfully tell me that the colour of the bulb casing denotes

FIAT PUNTO Boot light

Hi ive noticed that there is no visible switch around the tailgate which operates the boot light such as a courtesy light switch found on the door pillar so just how does it work anyone

OK - for what its worth... (off-topic I know ) The boot light circuit is live at all times so if the switch was faulty the light would stay on and drain the battery. Not overnight but over the course of several days it would. The microswitch for the boot light is part of the catch on the tailgate. You can hear it click when you move the catch slightly. If you close the catch fully there is another

Hi all done my Searches and found a couple have had this. Finally yes it broke... All starts runs drives fine just wont switch off. I have seen the fuse-box blamed. FIAT PUNTO Boot Light Has Never Worked

When i first got my car i noticed the boot light didnt work. I changed the the Bulb no luck. Changed the Holder no luck. I then ran a temporary to a ground point and it work left this wire there closed boot and Doesnt turn off so i think the switch between car and bootlid is faulty. Any ideas how to get asround this Thanks

the switch is built into the actual catch on the boot lid pop the cowling off - and have a good look and check of the actual catch A wire could have broken at any point - so its hard to prove where its broken if this is the case Normally tho - its the catch that fails simply get another boot lock - change the tumbler over and enjoy a candle amount of light in the boot ---- Also i believe the boot light

FIAT PUNTO Sidelight warning light on dash remains on occassionally flashing

FIAT PUNTO I 176C 176L mk1 punto lightwiper stalk unit

My daughter has a 1998 R REG mk1 75SX punto with the audio controls on the steering wheel. After buying the car I discovered the light stalk switch had snapped inside its housing and decided to replace the whole unit with a second hand one from EBAY. I managed to fit the new one and am pleased to say that all the lights now work - however neither the horn or the remote audio controls are no longer

It is possible to remove and replace the light switch stalk from the unit but it is fiddly and it helps to have three hands (or a willing assistant) when you are putting it all back together again. There are about five small screws holding the unit together and a number of plastic tags which you can release from behind. You should be able to remove the broken stalk from your original unit and repace

FIAT PUNTO GRANDE PUNTO Replacing a lightbulb in the centre console

Hey My first post here - go easy on me I have a 57-reg Grande punto (only 6 months old sigh) that one of the lightbulbs behind the fan controls on the centre console has blown on. I figure its a case of pulling out at least the

FIAT PUNTO Warning light(battery)

Just set off in the car and a warning light came on. The red battery one. I dont even have a handbook for the car so have come here to ask what this can mean. Have come home am not going to drive it with light on after what happened last time. Not happy And while Im here anyone know why my back fog wont go on and my left side back light is off too. Car up for MOT in a month...eeep

My old uno had a fault on the sensor in the alternator that lit the light up on the dash the actual unit worked fine but the bit that lit the warning light up on the dash was broken so the battery light would be on but go off at higher revs and in the rain only way to find out is take it to a sparky and get them to attach a multimeter to it to check everything is working as it should also if youve

FIAT PUNTO Damned dash warning lights

I have a 94 (M - ORIGINAL) punto ELX 75 and it has two lights in the dash that have problems. The first is the door open light. when its damp seems to stay on but this isnt too much of a problem dodgy italian wiring I no.... but now the handbrake light stays on even when the handbrake is off..... Any ideas anyone Mk1 1.2 ELX 75

The switch on the handbrake lever can be dodgy just take the plactic cover off the handbrake and check that the switch isnt stuck or broken. Failing that the wire from the switch is probably shorting to earth somewhere. ------fiat------ Fart In A Tin

A classic case of Italian electrics methinks D When I first got my 94 55SX the handbrake light didnt work at all - a simple case of the wire had broken off of the switch contact. But I forgot all about the brake fluid sensor using the same light as the handbrake cheers for pointing that out Pritch [8D] ------fiat------ Fart In A Tin

FIAT PUNTO Power steering light issues

Hi guys and gurls how are we all Quick question for you all out there which i hope you can help me with. However i remember that when my old battery was on its last legs the light came on then and

FIAT PUNTO GRANDE PUNTO City Mode Button Jammed Stuck Maybe Broken

Hi people sadly my fiat has a problem The city mode button is jammed. As in I can press the button in (but it takes a bit of strength to) and if it is pressed in it very slowly returns to its original state (so city mode can never really be used). There is nothing stuck in between the dashboard buttons so the thing I thought of is that the city mode buttons spring is broken Anyone had this issue or problem before If anyone has any advice I would very much appreciate it. Thank you

Ive never used city mode steering in the five years that Ive owned mine. The steering is quite light at all times. Its possible that larger diesel engines make steering heavy at low speeds but I doubt its really necessary. Just forget it. You could always work some switch cleaner or WD40 into the switch around the button to try to make it work properly. JCW

broken Foot Brake switch Not something that goes - but its fairly easy to sort Stick your head under the Driver footwell - look at the brake pedal - you will see a Small White Brass looking switch - its quiet small As you press your brake - a little shaft drops down as the pedal moves - As the switchs Button if you wanna call that then completes the circuit its basically a Push to Break switch Ziggy
