FIAT PUNTO Diagnostic Software

Ive had a problem with my 1.2 8v punto for a few weeks now. I have looked on the forum and found this thread which covers the exact same problem I am having. Basically the engine management light comes on and my car loses all power and the engine judders. I have to drive in gears 1-3. My brother has an Op-Com diagnostics kit which I have tried to fit into my punto and use the multiecuescan software.

FIAT PUNTO Punto 1.2 ELX obd plug

I have recently aquired a 1995 1.2 elx punto with an annoying misfire. i have some software on an old laptop to possibly read fault codes but dont even know if these early fiats had an obd socket if they have does anyone know where they are and what protocol the car uses i would have thought they do as it is a multipoint injection model but searching in all the common places i couldnt find one. any help would be much love by a newbie fiat owner. Regards punto ELX

FIAT PUNTO diagnostics plug

Anyone know where i plug in a diagnostics kit on a 1.9jtd Its so i can find out where to plug a OBDII Bluetooth checker.

Hi mate On the JTD its in the same place as the other MK2 puntos. AT the bottom of the fusebox to the right of your knee (Uk car) The JTD is not fully OBD2 compliant so you will need to chose your diagnostic software carefully otherwise you will be limited as to being able to read fault codes etc. HOWEVER fiatECU Scan and a VAG Com cable will work 100% with the JTD . UniDiag and a VAG Com cable will also work. Hope that helps Alan

FIAT PUNTO diagnostics plugchap

Hi i have a fiat punto 1.6 sporting. Right iv been looking for the Diagnostice plug as i was going to have it put on the computer as my injecter light keeps coming on and off. Iv put new sets of injecters in and still comes on had someone say it might be letting to much air in as it dose have a silly air fillter on it but dont drive any diffrent. Well what im after is do any1 know where the Diagnostics plug is Any help would be a great help Cheers

Ive got an 05 punto 1.2 8 valve and was thinking of getting the adapter and software to go on a laptop so the diagnostics plug should be in my fusebox then and has anyone got experience of these readers

Nope your plug will be at the bottom of your passenger fuse box next to the steering wheel. Got my cable through today and have the software downloaded just gotta wait for my car to get back from Devon so I can have a play now This should work on any car sold in Europe since 2000 shouldnt it so long as I can find the right software. Does anyone know of any other freeware solutions for different makes

Ive pulled disconnected the earth terminal removed the transponder ring taken off its connector along with a couple of other plugs and pushed them together tight. Decided to leave the neg lead off all night to see if that helps too - so Ill update in the morning. FIAT PUNTO Oil in spark plug hole

Morning all Serviced my wifes punto this weekend and when I removed the spark plug from hole 1 it was covered in oil (fresh oil not burnt on stuff). The other 3 plugs were clean. I replaced the plugs leads and oilfilter but does this normally mean the O ring has perished (the engines done 146k or so so its had a good innings) The car hasnt been misfiring and its rarely used (my wife probably does less

I would agree with you all but the op is saying that the oil was on the bottom of the plug the bit thats normally inside the cylinder with lots of nice hot gases etc. I would bet that whats happened is while filling or topping up the oil youve managed to spill some down the back of the engine. Its dead easy to do with the silly layout If theres no other symptoms assume the simplest thing i.e. oil in

If thats a Mk2 perhaps worth checking whether the ECU is covered by fiatECUScan software and sort yourself a code reader. httpwww.fiatforum.compunto-guide...er-laptop.html Common problems aside of plugsleads include the HT coils. There could be a problem in the throttle body there is a potentiometer there that signals throttle position to the ECU. There is also a manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor in there. red

jonyid Assuming you went for a USB lead youll need to install an FTDi driver for the virtual serial port that is in the OBD plug end of the lead. Mine came with a driver on a mini CD but I downloaded newer version from FTDi site. In use plug the lead into the OBD socket which is in the fusebox on the drivers side just above the bonnet release. You need to release the fusebox cover first (two screws quarter turn with a coin). You need the ignition on to power the ECU . You can keep it plugged in while you start the engine if you want dynamic data. It is pretty easy to use software. Im getting an error regarding serial port latency too high (despite setting it as low as possible via device manager). Would be interested to know if you experience similar. It doesnt seem to affect use though I have got data out and been able to reset the logged faults and put the light out. It looks like it is capable of communicating with other controllers (airbags ABS etc.) but to do that needs a small wiring change in the OBD plug. I havent tried that yet but theres adequate information on the fiatECUScan site. red

FIAT PUNTO Punto 1.2l ELX

Hi Im new to the forum and in need of answers so I apologise if this has already been covered somewhere else. Ive just bought a W Reg punto and it appears to be a little bit broken 1. The engine shakes sounds like it could be backfiring 2. The car is very unresponsive in terms of gear and speed - it does about 50mph in 5th with foot to the floor 3. The engine is over heating (maybe as a result of 1))

if you can find somewhere to do it. Its recommended that you use new head bolts but you dont automatically have to. Prob the best investment you can make is in a can of penetrating fluid for undoing stuck bolts. spray it on then tap them with a hammer and spray again and repeat over and over until they come undone. After that you need a good socket kit and car jack and jack stands . I used the punto
