B-5 The line is a vacuum line...the direction of flow is from the zone of highest pressure to the zone of lowest pressure. In this case the high pressure is inside the distributor where crankcase pressure leaks over and draws small amounts of heated oil and oil vapor past the distributors seal. There is also some air flow under the distributor cap which is tight but not a hermetic seal. The flow is

I believe and Joe seems to confirm this that the distributor in question has a vacuum retard. It only acts to retard the timing at very low engine speeds or at idle. The operational symptoms of a bad diaphragm would be a fast idle. Once the vacuum retard releases the timing is controlled by the weights in the centrifugal advance system. I dont remember any seal on the distributor shaft. I think if

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS C I 202 Replacing spark plugs ignition wires distributor cap

This is being done on 2005 C240 4Matic (130000). Any suggestions on brand or best to go with OEM Is it a waste of time to just replace spark plugsignition wires without replacing distributor cap Vehicle is a bit sluggish but proves herself when accelerating quickly. Other than basic maint. Ive had 2 costly repairs in 8 years trans. conductor plate (1077) and air pump & relay (990). Both repairs were

A 2005 model vehicle wont have a distributer so youd probably just want to replace the plugs.. generally plug wires arent something you need to replace. I learned some time ago that when it comes to spark plugs simply purchase the exact same plugs that the car came out of the factory with. I think there are few exceptions to this rule. May want to post this question in the correct forum as this is the W202 C-class board and not for your car.

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS G 460 Need distributor for 1980 230G

Can anyone direct me to a source for this item the Bosch number on my distributor is 0231 168 028 and apparently the new mercedes part number listed for this distributor is 002 158 9901... most of the auto wrecking yards I have called only have the Bosch 0231 170 137 number...anyone know if this will work for me my 230G has a 4 cylinder M115.973 engine...most of the W123 (230 sedan and coupe from 1976-1981 have the M115.954 engine...) any help would be appreciated... thanks George

I suspect that you could rebuild your distributor by mixing and matching parts from other distributors for that motor family. The weights springs are the most likely things to be unique. The springs might be available as spares. If the shaft is loose installing a breakerless igniton kit might be good enough.

I need a second unit because Im converting to fuel injection and dont want to risk my original distributor...

A friend just upgrade his 230G to a 280GE. I pretty sure that the distributor is still on the engine. I let you know tomorrow.

There are two numbers listed on the unit. one at the top0 237 523 001 bottom003 158 3001. This distributor is from a 230G. Not certain of the year. Double check your numbers and let me know. Regards.

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS G Stripped distributor bolt head

When attempting to adjust the timing I found that the distributor hex bolt was rounded out. I have tried chiselling it anti-clockwise but it wonÂt budge. I donÂt think cutting a grove in the top would work either. ThereÂs not much room in there so short of attempting to weld an allen key to the bolt and trying again has anyone got any ideas To judge by how easy these bolts are to strip and how

Quote Flounder - 7222004 806 AM There is quite a few manufacturers making sockets for removing rounded heads. I believe they are called turbo sockets but certain brands may call them something else. They work excellent. Heres snap ons link to see what they look like but there are plenty less expensive brands out there that look identical. httpbuy1.snapon.comcatalogpro_d...re&dircatalog Good link but

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS E II 210 Vacuum leak at fuel distributor

98 E320 vacuum leak gave P0170 code repaired leak error went away but came back. Detected another leak (carb cleaner) at (what blowup at EPC is calling) distributor tube where it is going into intake manifold. It looks like it is held in w u-clips but they do not show up on diagram (and its a mercedes-it cant possibly be that easy) please advise what is involved and easiest way to fix leak. Thank you

Please click user cp and edit details to add your vehicle and location to your profile its useful information when youre seeking assistance. To be honest I am really not excited about loading up the EPC to try and figure out what youre describing and fuel distributor is about as useful a name in the W210 as ignition distributor would be. How about a picture Either a digital pic from your camera with you pointing at the location or the pic from the EPC with something to designate the actual item

Ah the fuel rail Leave it to mercedes to call it that The injectors each have o-rings and thats the only thing I can think of that might be leaking since thats all that is there. Id also think that if you have to replace o-rings on one you may as well replace them all. Good luck.

Yeah thats why I went to EPC to see what its called. Is it as easy as it looks to pull out From my limited experience w mercedes easy is not part of vocabulary. Also is there a way to find spec on o rings or is it a dealer item. And when installing new o rings would you recommend any kind od lubricant Thx

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS C I 202 vacuum distributor

96 c280 The solid white vacuum hose from port 6 on the distributor that runs through the fire wall where does this hose connect mine is broken off and not connected i need to hook it back up. Thanks.

I bought a new vacuum distributor for my 94 C220 pls refer the picture. It is located near the passenger side firewall area with a big plastic to cover the area. Does anyone know how to take out each vacuum line without breaking the connector. I need to put back each vacuum line into the new vacuum distributor without breaking anything because they are all plastic. I can only think of to use 2 little

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS G 280GE distributor rotors

On the left is the genuine MB part and on the right is the latest Bosch replacement. Is one better than the other Thanks George

With a rev limiter in the fuel pump relay why have one in the distributor Aside from the idea of gaining knowledge about what parts are interchangeable.

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS G Allen-head size (for the distributor adjustment locking bolt)

Hi all.br Id like to adjust my distributors advance a little bit (its the M110 twin cam engine in an 84 280GE) and I need to loosen a hard-to-get-at allen-head bolt in order to free it to rotate. I need to know the right size but I dont have a complete set of sizes to size it properly by feel (and in any case to work it properly I will have to buy the right size thats mounted on a 38 socket to reach

5 mm Thanks - I appreciate it.br And it shouldnt be a problem -- this new engine (long block) was just rebuilt and the ancillary things (incl. distributor) just put on less than a year ago. Its just that here weve started getting winter gas (oxygenated stuff) and my engine (a customized high-compression version) has started pinging at heavy throttle so I want to retard the timing a bit (until Springtime -).br Thanks again.br

Just want to report that it was a simple uneventful project -- once I got the right tool.br Dutch was right it was 5mm but to get at it I needed a really long shaft on the allen head and a socket with one was too bulky. I stopped at a Snap-On truck in a service station and he had a set of five allen wrenches (with T handles) including the 5mm size for about 15. Theyre about 8 long (theres a 6 version

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS S III 140 How to make Distributor Cap and Rotors last longer on 1992-1993 V8 Models

As we all know that the 1992 and 1993 V8 engines had a design flaw with the distributor Cap and Rotors location and position in the engine it caused them to fail very frequently specially if the vehicle was not driven frequently. My question to the experts is how can the longevity of those parts be improved specially for someone who does not drive the car frequently.

From over on the sl side...Seems like Beru caps an rotors are the solution to the condensation problems. Here is the link httpwww.benzworld.orgforumsr129...-moisture.html

My 95 S500 new distributor cap failed after 10000 miles. My mechanic who has a 94 drills a small hole to let the heat out as he claims the small interior suffers for heat build up and then cracking. so far no failures after 3000 miles

One would think adding a hole would mean adding moisture. Not arguing the results just would make sense. As far as where to find the caps there are beru caps on ebay the part number is 1191580102 looks to be about 90.00 a piece. I havent researched further but here is the link if you want to look at it. Well just ordered new fuel distributor with rubber seal and 2 new eha seals. Hopefully that will cure rough idle hesitation on acceleration and gas consumption . Ill post the results after the install and ratio adjustment. Thanks everyone.

Problem after problem. I have ordered a rebuild fuel distributor in two locations and my orders got canceled because nobody have the item. MERCEDES BENZ CLASS S I 126 Fairly large problem with fuel distributor adjustment

I adjusted the fuel distributor on my 500SEL while it was running and I turned it a bit to the lean side and the car stalled. I tried to turn it the other way and it didnt seem to click. Now it wont start. It doesnt seem to be clicking either way now but I can see the head of the adjuster turning. Any ideas

I got it Well my friend did. Right before I was about to probably ruin the whole fuel distributor. For some reason it wasnt engaging the screw. We pushed down and hammered the allen wrench in a little bit and it finally started working again. It doesnt click anymore but it now adjusts. He throttled it while I adjusted until it stayed running then he adjusted it by ear.

Thanks Ill give it a go. Are there differences between US and Euro fuel distributors
