actually start the car. 2. Press the odometer reset button for between 5 and 10 seconds until a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in the centre appears in the top window between the clocks (where the outside temperature time or date normally appears) - this is the Service icon. 3. Release the odometer button briefly and press again straight away which brings up a picture of the Brake fluid
To explain what I did do (and where I expected the brake-interval to show up) I repeat below what I wrote in this thread ... What did I do wrong such that the brake-service interval never showed up reset SERVICE INTERVAL LIGHT ( procedure is for 2001 and later BMW E39 models ) I. Position 0 is the key in car off position position 1 is the first detente position 2 is the second detente & momentary position
QSilver7 Blue...you dont have to worry about the Brake Service Interval...unless you turned it on with CarSoft or PA soft etc. BMW does not have this feature turned on here in the states on the e39 (and on the e38 too). Hi Donna. Just like you I changed my oil (fortunately no surprises there but leaning towards using Mityvac next time) and did a brake flush recently. I was also wondering how to reset
I recently replaced my Brake pads on a 04 E60 and needed to reset the Idrive Information I did some google searchers and found the following information. I tried it on my E60 and it worked perfectly. I am thinking that other models with Idrive will work the same way. This is not my write but was found on E60.net but thought I would post here for others to use. httpforums.e60.netindex.phpshowtopic17756&st15
Copy and paste from an old thread. Firstly with the ignition switched on set the odometer trip meter back to zero by pushing it once. Then switch the ignition back off again. (I found this step was critical otherwise I couldnt get to the Service menu). Now you are ready to go through the reset steps as follows 1. Switch the ignition on (so that the battery Oil and Parking brake lights are displayed)
The reset noted above works for the timed interval for brake fluid changes. If you had the brake pad light come on and subsequently changed brake pads then you had to also change the brake pad wear indicator. It is a single-use item once it makes contact and triggers the warning light it needs replacing.

no its not what resetting does. on newer models (up to 99 some have assyst some dont my old 97 does... the 98 replacement doesnt.... the same applies to the round data socket on the left hand seat box) you have indicators on the instrument panel to say if a service is due. what you describe is almost certainly a plug or earthing fault. remove the instrument cluster (2 screws in top) and make sure the

That low AdBlue (Diesel Exhaust fluid or DEF) indicator doesnt require hard SDS reset. If after refill the low AdBlue warning does not come off is 123 drive cycles - then from ML totally off turn the ignition to position 1 (on but not cranking) for over 30 secs - then turn ignition off - if Keyless Go pull the button and use the key. The position 1 is a general reset for that system. At this time there

Other than the reset procedure I outlined - or a full cold boot by the dealer - the AdBlue indicator problem is something I have not seen yet - so I have no other suggestion than stay close to your dealer for the resolution. Keep the faith
Your step by step instructions were great Im a female and I was able to reset the indicator on my 2007 530i. NTB changed my brake fluid for half the cost of the dealership but they did not know how to reset the indicator. I saved a lot of money and time...thanks to you
Who can post this for some of us to follow I will need to reset oil service brake fluid change service on my 2008 535xi. Is there a service reset for coolant change also since I will need that as well thanks...

Try the following for iDrive listed resets worked for me

1. Insert key fob. Do not press brake. Push start button. 2. Wait for all warning lights to disappear. 3. Hold left instrument button until yellow exclamation point appears. 4. Using toggle switch scroll to Service Info 5. Press BC to select Service Info 6. Scroll to areas that need to be reset. (In my case Brake fluid and Oil Change indicators) 7. Press BC which should select the option and give the
Mine works as the OP describes also - just spent 15 minutes trying to reset my brake fluid change required. I get through the sequence fine to get to the service menu go to brake fluid press the BC button and it just goes back to the clock - cant figure it out for the life of me. Only trying to do it because my bav technic cable wont reset it either
if youve got the voltage display then you can use the steering wheel buttons to navigate to the appropriate screen and reset service items unfortunately the menu is in German and navigating is a frustrating process with an annoying interface as I said good luck I ramble around until I think Ive reset the right service. I do most servicing myself and get the dealer to look after distance and time based items such as coolant brake fluid and auto-transmission oil occasionally.
The same way you reset the oil indicator after an oil change.
traffic frequent cold starts short trips etc. all matter ... but Im looking for general recommendations. Also somewhere I remember seeing the liters of fuel-used (20%40%60%80%100%108%) algorithm for each of the green yellow and red lights and for the OIL SERVICE & INSPECTION times but I cant seem to find the exact algorithm (now that I want it). Also I tried to follow my own and QSilvers oil-reset

I just completed Service D on my 03 E500...670.00 including oil change cabin filters brake fluid flush coolant flush wiper fluid flush trans. fluid flush....in addition electronic brake motor replaced under warranty did not meet MB specs . Apparently there have been problems and this item is warranted to 150k miles. Car runs great but has developed pesky engine noise after replacing leaky motor mount.
Quote After the flashing reset on the display and the End SIA prompt (by holding or still pressing the trip odometer button) the display went away. I assume this is the completion of the reset but I do not see the LEDs bars (which display briefly) all coming back on after I start my ignition. You were supposed to press the reset button one more time when the flashing begins (see step 5 in the instructions
On an 02 you do not need a tool to reset the oil service - you simply must be performing the reset function incorrectly. What brake light comes up The one that says BRAKE If that light is on and the DSC light is off you need more brake fluid. ...or are you talking about the pad sensor light If thats the case (and you had the sensors replaced as you are supposed to when you get new brakes) simply turn the key to the ON position for 30 seconds without starting the car until the light shuts off.
I just got a service lite at 10000 (was serviced at 15000) its to change the brake fluid which is every 2 years irregardless of miles.
anyone have the correct (working) procedure for a brake fluid reset on a 2008 535xi
You can do it with the turn signal stock controls. Are you sure you are not trying to reset the brake wear indicator. httpwww.bimmerfest.comforumssho...d.phpt133613
